How Much Do Managed IT Services Cost in NYC & NJ? (2026 Pricing Guide)

Real 2026 managed IT pricing for NYC and NJ businesses: per-user vs per-device models, what you'll pay at 10, 25, and 75 seats, what moves the number, and what cheap quotes leave out. From an MSP that publishes its rates.

Here is the number most MSP websites make you sit through a sales call to get: in the NY/NJ market in 2026, full managed IT services cost roughly $109 to $225 per workstation per month for a small business. Servers usually carry their own flat fee (ours is $250/month), and network gear — firewall, switches, access points — is either bundled or itemized at around $200/month for a typical office.

We publish our managed IT services pricing because hiding it wastes everyone’s time: $109 Essentials, $159 Secure, $225 Sovereign, per workstation, per month. The rest of this guide explains what those numbers mean, how other MSPs structure theirs, and how to read a quote, including the cheap ones.

The four ways MSPs price

Per user. One price per employee, covering all their devices. Clean for companies where everyone has a laptop, a phone, and maybe a tablet. Usually runs somewhat higher per head than per-device pricing.

Per device (or per workstation). One price per computer under management. This is what we use. It maps directly to where support effort actually goes, and it doesn’t punish you for the warehouse PC that three shift workers share.

Tiered bundles. Most MSPs, us included, layer tiers on top of the per-unit model: a basic tier (helpdesk, patching, monitoring), a security tier (EDR, MFA, backup, training), and a compliance tier (everything, plus the controls an auditor asks about). The spread between bottom and top tier is typically 2x.

Co-managed / all-you-can-eat. For companies with an internal IT person who needs a security stack, escalation depth, and coverage when they’re on vacation. Priced differently — usually a monthly platform fee plus a per-seat rate lower than full management. If that’s you, our co-managed IT page covers it.

Most businesses we quote come in between the Essentials and Secure columns. Nobody needs the top tier by default; it exists for regulated industries where the compliance work is real.

What moves the number

  • Compliance requirements. HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2, CMMC: each adds documented controls, evidence collection, and audit support. This is the single biggest price mover. A medical practice and a marketing agency with identical headcount will not pay the same.
  • Servers and legacy apps. Cloud-only companies are cheaper to support. On-prem servers, old line-of-business software, and anything that says “Windows Server 2016” adds cost.
  • After-hours needs. If your business runs nights and weekends — restaurants, logistics, call centers — coverage beyond business hours is priced in, not free.
  • On-site frequency. Most support is remote. If you want a standing weekly on-site visit, that’s a real cost and should show up as a real line item.
  • Security depth. 24/7 SOC monitoring, EDR on every endpoint, immutable backups. Included in our Secure tier and up; sold as add-ons by many others. Ask specifically.

How to read a cheap quote

You will get quotes well under $100 a seat. Some are honest about what they are. Most aren’t. The anatomy is almost always the same: the security stack is an add-on, backup is an add-on, projects are billed hourly on top, onboarding carries a setup fee, and “unlimited support” has a per-ticket or after-hours asterisk. By month three the invoice looks like the $159 quote you passed on, except now the relationship started with a bait-and-switch.

When you shouldn’t buy managed IT at all

Below about 10 endpoints, flat-rate managed IT is usually the wrong purchase. At 5–8 employees the math favors a good one-off support arrangement, and we say so on the first call. About 1 in 5 first calls to us end with a referral elsewhere because the fit isn’t right.
